I have been working at University of Dundee full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Inexpensive city Small city but quite vibrant (DCA,V&A, cool restaurants...) Good reputation (Life Sciences at least) Beautiful surroundings in Scotland Great potential Some magnificent researchers and groups

    Cons

No cafeteria on site (Life Sciences) or plans to have one The admin in some divisions are notoriously grumpy/unhelpful A few rotten apples (PIs) make the atmosphere really negative (eg. at seminars) Older PIs run the place and don't allow for younger people to grow/develop The entire IT system is a mess (tons of spam, computers don't operate well, they take long to have OS updates available...)

    Advice to Management

Management should REALLY listen to their employees and assess the level of satisfaction they have to improve the School of Life Sciences. The level of paperwork required for certain things is ridiculous...
