    I worked at University of Edinburgh full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Decent pension. Great access to training and software. Potential to collaborate in world-class research projects.

    Cons

    Management from academic staff is minimal. Salary is capped, practically speaking, unless you go down the PhD route.

    Advice to Management

    Make funding available for departments to retain more technical staff

    Boring technology used to solve oring problems mostly created by bad management. Lot of legacy to support.
