  • Nice facilities, great swimming pool, fantastic location in the west end of Glasgow, plenty of cafes and pubs 5 mins walk (in 6 reviews)

Cons
  • I was told by my line manager that had I not been pregnant my contract would have been renewed (in 3 reviews)

  • Remote location, not to many contacts with the main campus research groups (in 3 reviews)

    Pros

    Well-equipped for molecular biology related work.
    Sequencing facility is in-house.
    Bioinformatics unit is well integrated into the institute.

    Cons

    Remote location, not to many contacts with the main campus research groups.
    HSE mismanagement issues.
    Career track is unclear.

    Advice to Management

    Resolve the issues regarding the HSE people, who cannot make decisions. Thus, lots of time goes to waste, which is very bad for the grants.

    Good place to work. People are friendly and helpful. But the

    Glasgow weather is a bit damp, but the trade off to work with good set of people.

    Advice to Management

    Relocation policy needs to be revised as contract less than 3 years are not eligible. This is a bit hard for families moving in for short term contracts.

    Pros

    Good pay and a respectful and inclusive environment to work in. Accessible and they have a lot of opportunities if you need to work during your studies.

    Cons

    A lot of requirements and requirements when posting jobs, even if the positions are basic or don't require a lot of skill. Hard to get an interview and because of the volume of applicants hard to actually get the job.

    Pros

    Opportunity to lead student tutorials in a subject I was interested in, no major requirements outside of the tutorials other than making sure you are prepared to discuss the relevant lecture materials.

    Cons

    No formal preparation, based on lecturer's instructions (which can be minimal).
