Flexible working hours, staff was looked out for as much as was possible in the higher education constraints
Cons
Job security depended on external funding, no chance of further progression in career unless external funding was secured - the usual higher education issues. However, internal support was sometimes hindered and external new staff was hired to boost the recurring REF evaluation

RecommendsPositive OutlookNo Opinion of CEOI have been working at University of Glasgow for less than a year
Pros
Very relaxed and seems to really care about staff's work/life balance, allowing flexible working if situations arise such as family care, appointments etc. I have learned so much since starting here, loads of opportunities to attend seminars and presentations to constantly expand knowledge. Really friendly and helpful staff (in my experience), feel very welcomed and supported
Cons
My only con is that I am a grant funded member of staff, which means my job is only secure for a certain length of time, otherwise I'd work here forever!
