Please can you give a little more context on the challenges facing the studying process? I may be able to flag these up to the appropriate people. Many thanks.

    Neutral Outlook
    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at University of Leicester full-time

    Pros

PhD life is great. Similar to undergraduate study, only this time you get paid for it. Hours are more flexible than any other job, as is the holiday rota. Also get paid a bit of pocket money for taking seminars for undergraduates

    Cons

Just make sure you really really want to study the subject you are applying to. If you don't, it's a very long three or four years, and it can get very depressing when you are stuck on the same topic, whilst you slowly narrow your skill set. If you think your PhD is leading you to something specific, then great! But don't do it a chance to put off applying to other things!

    Advice to Management

University is a lot more bureaucratic than you realise at undergraduate level. It IS a business, therefore, there are middle managers bearing down on you, inventing targets and goals, when they don't actually know what they are talking about. Its a wonder how they managed to invent a job for themselves

    Neutral Outlook

I have been working at University of Leicester part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

You can choose your own hours and how much you work in some positions so the work-life balance is perfect. Also, the range of people you get to work with is great and you get to try different tasks all the time

    Cons

There are a lot of things that you have to know about the University of Leicester in order to be good at the position, and this can take time to achieve.

    Advice to Management

Encourage more inter-work relationships by providing more training days etc together with other workers

    Pros

Easy to navigate, friendly staff, nice modern buildings (most).

    Cons

    Can't think of anything bad

    Advice to Management

Recognise individuals after a shift perhaps… but I've never had a bad experience.
