    Neutral Outlook

    Pros

Wide range of facilities, top flight academics and access to a lot of well funded collaborations. Definitely one of the better universities to work for

    Cons

Like most universities across the world, can't actually organise a piss-up in a brewery. IT infrastructure is poor and inter-department silo's are a big problem

    Advice to Management

Please regularly communicate with staff and students, it's impossible to find out what is actually going on in the university or whats planned for the future

I have been working at University of Manchester full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Working with some of the best academics
Access to everything you need for your research
Purpose built buildings for almost all subjects

    Cons

Academics are too busy with admin to do their research, supervise PhD students or prepare useful lecture notes
Stressful publish or perish culture for early career researchers

    Advice to Management

Reduce admin for researchers to get the best from them
Remove some of the dead wood at the top of the tree to let younger academics progress
