I have been working at University of Manchester full-time

    Pros

Nice large campus. Salary higher than other universities.

    Cons

Lots of work related to the school admin. Manegerial and division-level meetings and workshops take up lots of research time.

I worked at University of Manchester full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Friendly Staff
A lot of contacts can be made quickly

    Cons

    Outdated systems
Large amounts of paper are created and shredded for and after a meeting (although this is being addressed with addition of laptops)

    Advice to Management

The University systems are all segregated. Certain departments do things one way, and others do things their way for the simple reason "thats just how it was done before". This needs to evolve to create a more overall streamlined process for everyone

I worked at University of Manchester full-time

    Pros

I worked in research so the atmosphere is very relaxed and flexible. You can chat to friends about problems and work almost any hours you wish.

    Cons

There is an atmosphere of over working in research, people work long hours and scorn those that don't.

    Advice to Management

    None
