Technical Account Manager

Being a woman in tech, I only recently started advocating for myself at work about advancement opportunities. Because of this I wanted to ask this question to my male counterparts. When you have 1:1's with your direct reports and talk about career growth / aspirations what is your managers’ response typically? I’d like to gauge how my experience (negative) differs from others. For instance are you met with blockades, enthusiasm, dread, etc?

    Find your own time

    Pros

-schedule at your own leasure; you can work full time or part time -Able to practice on what to work on if you are planning to be a teacher or an educator in general -Group classes are $20 an hour -Instant tutoring gives bonuses of up to twice the amount of pay.

    Cons

-Students can vary from excellent to unapproachable; requires high tolerence on smug or ignorant students. This goes for any eduation profession anyways. -If you are focusing on teaching one person each session, pay is highly dependent on the individual you are teaching towards to. Ex) I taught a college student general physics with $15 per hr and a senior citizen qunatum computing with $18 per hr.

    Flexible but overworked

Jun 15, 2022 - Tutor in Columbia, SC

    Pros

Flexible and you choose your class times. Pays well if you are looking for a side hustle around classes.

    Cons

Underpaid for someone with a degree and not always enough opportunities. This is by no means a viable full time job. On good weeks you can get 25 hours a week of paid class time. You have to create your own class from scratch on your own time. It seems great at first, but doesn't talk into account tax. You can expect 30% to be taken away for tax at some point. You can expect 1000 a month from this. (Unless you are in math or science)
