Pros

Verra is a fast-paced NGO working on climate change mitigation and sustainable development issues through market mechanisms. Staff are dedicated to meeting the mission of the organization and bust their butts. Expect more of a start-up culture than one of your typical NGO. There is never a dull day at Verra and you will always be mentally stimulated whether it be through critical thinking or discovering a new critical or endangered species that a project is helping to protect.

Cons

Like a start-up, the organization is scaling more quickly than staff capacity so expect to work long hours. Balance is one of the companies values, and leadership wants to meet this by investing in more staffing. However, the market demand has outstripped the ability to onboard new staff at the same scale. That being said, the staff all are in the trenches together and will take work off your plate to allow you to take much-needed vacation time (which is a very good package!)

Pros

Able to get a lot of experience and dive head first into the work and make an impact. The people are fun and great to work with, everyone is very passionate about the mission. The benefits (compared to US companies) are amazing.

Cons

There is a lot of work to be done and not a lot of support to do it. Because it is remote, sometimes it is hard to build a community outside of coordinated events - and those are sometimes hard to fit into the schedule.
