Pros

Working with lettuce and plants gives you confidence and skill transferral

Cons

Dangerous working conditions, chemicals with no PPE, inconsistent and unpredictable work load, abusive and inexperienced management, expects farmers to work on weekends for free managing their entire site through a laptop (again, for free)

Pros

Flexible with work-life balance, will let you go to doctors' appointments, farming itself is pretty fun, the little plants are cute, and the employees are very kind. I loved the farm. The Sunday-Thursday shift was nice because I had a weekday off and it wasn't as crowded on Sunday so work was a steadier pace. The actual company is great too; I really believed in their mission and their products are good quality (please eat the lettuce! It's good for you!).

Cons

They changed my job title and position about three weeks after I started (this was meant to be temporary, and I did get the opportunity to change back; more on that below). Sunday-Thursday was abolished and EVERYONE went Monday-Friday. I was moved to packing without any new training and little notice beforehand. Packing is fine, but it just wasn't right for me; I'm not good with cold and the loud music was startling (don't get me wrong, I do need music to work, but this was LOUD). My health problems were exacerbated from the refrigerated room and it got to the point where I couldn't even work anymore so I resigned and left. The reason for three stars is because I felt like there wasn't much communication between the company and the farm, the farm and the pack house, and the company and the pack house. It just felt like, "go get 'em, tiger, go plant some lettuce." The Slack on corporate's end was mostly work related memes and selfies so I only went on it for directly messaging people. I'm all for good morale from corporate, but I would actually like to know more about what we're doing other than "lettuce".
