    Creative environment

Amazing job to have in your early and mid 20s

    Cons

Leadership tends to be people that excelled at a certain skill and were promoted without ever learning to be good managers / leaders
Low pay relative to other media companies - becomes an issue once you're out of your 20s and still living check to check

    Advice to Management

Extensive management training should be essential for anyone that is going to have direct reports.

    Advice to Management

For senior Management: Invest in the talent that is around you - give ownership and responsibility to employees who have high skill sets and reward them accordingly.

I worked at Viacom Media Networks full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great learning environment for a person seeking after college experience. they hire their interns (when possible), which makes the learning curve so much easier when you graduate. easy going work flow and great work life balance.

    Cons

clique clique clique. you will never get anywhere unless you are in with the it crowd. people get promoted based on who their friends or family (yes, family) are. Forget enforcing results from your team, that is frowned upon in the Miami office. As long as you are friends with your direct reports and don't rock the boat, you can coast.
Layoffs are inevitable.... most positions are based in the region and the few that are in Miami will eventually transition as well.

    Advice to Management

The advice is for NY corporate office: take a long hard look at the Miami office. crack down on unethical behavior and favoritism. You have a great group of people there that are either let go or completely unengaged because of the way the office is being managed.
