I have been working at Virgin Atlantic Airways full-time

    Pros

Good travel perks but have become more difficult to use in recent years. Feels part of the Virgin brand so atmosphere in head office is modern and quite relaxed

    Cons

HQ is on industrial estate and takes a while to get to on public transport.

I worked at Virgin Atlantic Airways full-time

    Pros

Great travel benefits and work life balance, nice office, friendly environment

    Cons

Location is not ideal and commuting from London or Brighton takes at least one hour. Season tickets are extremely expensive, the company does not offer any discounts nor provides free shuttle service from Gatwick Airport (as opposed to other companies in the area)

Progression is not valued, lots of people are stuck in the same role for years. It is not the best company to work for if you are ambitious and looking to develop and progress quickly

    Advice to Management

Create new opportunities, reward people, value progression at all levels, attract new talents

I worked at Virgin Atlantic Airways full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great people, great brand to work on. Used to have a great culture and some of that is left. Great 7 free flights a year which is great and other benefits like pension, private health care etc are good. Some departments offer flexible working but really depends which one you're in and your line manager.

    Cons

Consistent redudancies. This has created a culture where everyone is out for themselves (which is a massive shift as it has always had a great family type culture). Really bad handling of redundancies. Management have changed dramatically and whilst this took a few years to filter down, it's completely changed the culture.

    Advice to Management

Look after your people. You preach that they're your biggest asset but the way you have treated your staff in recent years means that most have now become 'get what you give' - never seen so many people come in and leave exactly on time.

I worked at Virgin Atlantic Airways part-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Great people to work with
    Fantastic Perks

    Cons

Hard to progress. I don’t believe they are very incouraging with progression within. So this makes it difficult to move departments.

    Advice to Management

Senior management need to spend more time with their lower counterparts to see their day to day workload and have a proper understanding of what they actually do. Management was rarely seen and not enough encouragement and or praise received.
