I have been working at Virgin Holidays Limited full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great people work here...there is a really strong work play hard attitude within the business. Great benefits - opportuniity to see the world at great rates!! If you get a chance to use the perks of the flights they can be amazing..

    Cons

Always changing - can be unsettling but does keep the company ahead of the competition Be good to see more senior management coming around the retail stores..

I worked at Virgin Holidays Limited full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Standby flights if you can get on them

    Cons

If your face fits culture, don’t bother raising a grievance they are never upheld, bullying culture, you are looked down apon as a consultant, expected to work on days off from home. Senior management recruited when they are friends of other senior managers even if they have no travel experience and shockingly bad, use others as scapegoats for their poor management. Do not work here unless you want to lose your sanity.

I have been working at Virgin Holidays Limited full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Travel concessions and vibrant front line staff.

    Cons

Constant restructures leave you rebuilding relationships with line managers and senior management every few months. These new managers always have very little understanding of the business or contact centre. Best line manager of my career has recently left, replaced by young lady with zero managerial experience or politeness.

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. As you mentioned we did in the Summer of 2018 introduce a new management structure with the aim of delivering equal focus on driving our operational objectives and supporting and developing our people. This was the first management change in over 3 years and although of course there are always opportunities to improve we are confident the changes we have made are making a positive impact. I am also positive that in recruiting for the new roles we were able to attract and recruit managers who all have extensive people and Sales management experience and am also confident that all of the team are making a positive impact on the day to day management and improvement of our Customer Centre. We have recently traded through our most successful Peak Period in a number of years and have been awarded as the Number 1 Customer Centre in Europe at the ECCCSA awards of which our amazing team made happen. Thank you for your part in this. Thank you very much for providing your feedback. The Customer Centre Managers and I are always open to discussing any opportunities to improve so please do feel free to speak with one of us further. Luke Squires - Head of Customer Centre

I worked at Virgin Holidays Limited

    Pros

Free flights Nothing else really appeals

    Cons

Senior management needs to take a deep dive into what they’re doing to their staff and retail model. You are expected to change your structure at the drop of a hat and be put under immense pressure. Staff are not valued as a person but rather as a number, the attrition rate is ridiculous but is there any surprise when staff aren’t getting developed and coached like they used to. There is no real hands on approach in management, some managers are looking after 6/7 stores whilst others after 1, where is the consistent and equal pay across the retail estate. The left hand doesn’t know what the right hand is doing and top line management is a mates club, you get in and excel, or don’t and fail. The free flights are a benefit but what happens when they get taken away?! Staff are moaning all the time that they’re getting paid a ridiculously low wage in comparison to other tour operators yet expected to work harder. When is the last time a staff member had a real in depth 1-2-1? When was the last time a manager spent quality time in their stores with the staff, we would all love to turn up at 10, send a few emails and then leave at 4, but the reality is, great managers in other businesses are hands on, approachable, realistic and valued.

    Pros

Ok flight perks Good sales bonus if you can hit the sales targets.

    Cons

Constantly restructuring. I would say on average every 18-20 months!!!! Just made about 70 store managers redundant and most of them had started up and established the stores over last 7-8 years! Very arrogant senior management team! A lot of ‘limelight’ chasing staff trying to be the ‘favourites’

I worked at Virgin Holidays Limited full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Most people work here for the simple fact that they live in Crawley and have little education or prospects. The prospect of free' flight(s) each year to Barbados is enough to keep them.

    Cons

The company is badly managed. Restructure after restructure proving that the senior management team are incapable of producing a solid structure for the business. If you are paid a half decent to decent salary expect to be made redundant.

Thank you for sharing your feedback, and we are sorry to read some of the points you raise. Indeed there is a heavy focus on the selling aspect of roles within our Retail estate and acknowledge that not everyone feels they can flourish in this heavily sales focused environment. However we certainly value the work that our Retail teams do as they are key to contributing to the success and profit of our company. We do appreciate the time you have taken to share this feedback and we wish you all the best for the future.
