I have been working at Vodafone full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Good salary and bonus Access to a lot of training modules online Interesting technology Surrounded by super clever people Very international community Modern campus with a lake You can never run out of great coffee as there is a café in each of the 6 buildings Possibility of working at the Paddington office in the future Good work life balance as possibility to work from home a couple of days a week

    Cons

Political alliance can make or break you If you are not part of the "in-crowd", you can be at risk at the end of the financial year (March): there is a redundancy programme every year The catering company offers mediocre food at extortionate prices Newbury is in the middle of nowhere, not conducive to socialising after work

    Advice to Management

Stop treating people like disposable assets This yearly culling doesn't help motivation for those who survive it

I have been working at Vodafone full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Caring environment with excellent working conditions and reasonable rates of pay. Rewording job where one can really influence the direction of your product.

    Cons

The coworkers needed to orchestrate your project can be difficult to identify or locate due to the scale of the company and the company itself can be very slow to move forward, which can lead to frustration

    Advice to Management

KEEP UP THE PRESSURE TO SIMPLIFY. This cannot be overstated. Also to automate the customer experience. This is being done but some real financial investment should be provided to ensure Vodafone keeps pace with the market.

I worked at Vodafone full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Vodafone is a global firm with a huge brand, albeit one that's tarnished somewhat in the UK. There are funds to do what you need to, provided you're aligned to what is in vogue.

    Cons

Broken processes means it takes far too long, and costs far too much to deliver anything. Overly hierarchical means that you can only go one step up at a time. Very political - management have their favourites. Opaque performance management process. Goals and objectives are meaningless when it is time to be fit to the curve. Most people operate in the Newbury bubble, far away from London and reality.

    Advice to Management

Flatten the management structure. Reduce complexity. Kill the product development methodology. Innovate rather than be defensive and to try and protect the core business for as long as possible.

    Advice to Management

Define a clear direction ans stay true to what you want to achieve.
