Dishonest and Chaotic

Recommend

Business outlook

Pros

The people and the work.

Cons

The CEO's practices were troubling - involving gaslighting, misleading clients, and lying to the employees about funds; which led to months without pay for some. Moreover, the company is entangled in multiple legal disputes. Be cautious about working with Vince O'Gorman in product development or new projects due to the issues observed.

Pros

- Good developer team - Good benefits but basic compared with other companies

Cons

- A lot laid off recently - Moved recently completely remote, this could be a fantastic benefit for many of us, but it also could mean the company can't afford it and there is a financial issue. - Salary is below the average, especially considering that all the projects have short deadlines, which usually means that we have to work on weekends and a lot of unpaid overtime. - Most of the time we work - There is always toxic gossip, especially coming from the manager which is the worst communication medium, now working remotely at least I don't have to see or hear this.

Hello! Thank you for leaving this review. As CEO of the company, I'm honestly shocked that you thought this was a great review to write. You clearly didn't listen to any of the communications we put out, and apparently, you have a lot of criticism for the hard-working managers but failed even to bring this to my attention. Your anonymous criticism of our company makes me wonder why you even bother working at Vog, although it says you are a former employee. Your comment regarding layoffs also clearly shows you don't understand the current industry and market. Layoffs meant you got to work from home while someone else was no longer employed. If you still work at Vog, maybe the company isn't for you as you clearly have lots to say about the company but don't have the courage to be part of change.

Terrible place to work

Pros

I can't think of one.

Cons

Management sits in offices on one side of the floor and the developers sit in a "bull pen". Staff is mandated to work in the office three days a week because they are not trusted to get work done at home. Underperforming, toxic employees are left alone, while employees with great attitudes and potential are underpaid, overworked and unappreciated. Oh, office supplies such as pens aren't available for staff to "cut costs". They charge $150k-$800k for an app and they don't give an employee as much as a highlighter.

Vog App Developers takes great pride knowing we take the required steps to deliver high-quality products to our valued clients and ensuring that product meets their requirements and business needs. We feel that communication and collaboration are two crucial steps that help us achieve this. By strategically arranging teams of developers and their team leads to work amongst each other in our open space concept, this promotes conversations, questions, and allows our talented developers to bounce ideas off one another. This keeps everyone in the “loop”. Let’s talk about office supplies. We are a Tech Company. We provide all the necessary tools and resources for our employees to complete their job effectively and efficiently. Does this include “Highlighters”, yes, if an employee requests one, but in our experience, a highlighter has not been of high importance in our industry. It is not a matter of cutting costs, it is about allocating any small savings back to the employees with social and teambuilding events which continues to promote the positive work culture that our CEO and his management team has built over the last decade. Our CEO Vince O’Gorman recognizes the way employees work has changed over the last two years due to Covid. To move along with these changing times, we have moved to a Hybrid work schedule which gives our employees the flexibility to work from home two days per week. Yes, some employees would love to work from home 100% of the time, while others enjoy the social aspect of being in the office full time. It is hard to please everyone, but this is a generous compromise and has been working well since August of 2021.
