There is some super smart rising stars in London who are doing great work and are very highly thought of within their client and peer groups. Benefits are industry leading Global Exchange after 12 months is unrivaled Salaries are competitive and bonus earning potential is very real.

    Cons

More females on the EMEA management team Missed opportunities over the years to diversify the business offering

    Advice to Management

Be willing to take the odd risk, WE clearly have the potential to drive forward and into new areas/disciplines - i.e. Consumer.

I worked at WE Communications for more than a year

    Pros

Generous vacation grant and nice offices. You have an actual desk in an open environment.

    Cons

Low salaries. It's clear from day 1 that they don't expect anyone to stay and retire here. Bizarre benefit range. A company created by women and packed with younger women offers two weeks parental leave. Terrible management that encourages people to turn on each other in the name of competition. No promotion track outside of management, so people who don't want to be/aren't qualified to be managers are given direct...

    Advice to Management

    - Accept there are issues and work to address them rather than cover them up. - Treat your employees like human beings rather than numbers. TRAIN YOUR MANAGERS. - Create a promotion track for employees who don't long to be directors. (Someone has to do the actual work.)

I worked at WE Communications full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Global agency with a lot of opportunity for growth and travel. Big, important clients and projects with high expectations and massive reach. Resources to do really cool storytelling on the account side and services side (creative, content, digital, etc) Sophisticated management and HR structure that values experience and career growth. Fair compensation and bonus structure. Ability to move up quickly in salary and...

    Cons

I suspect some people would say a con is having Microsoft as a major client. It's not. It's a real opportunity to work on a major global account and you will do really sophisticated and top tier work. As far as actual cons go, the commute to Bellevue from Seattle isn't always the most fun part of your day. But WE does provide transit passes and parking compensation which helps.

    Advice to Management

Consider building in 5% of time for AEs and above to moonlight on other agency or client projects. That can be anything from a trip one year to another office to help on an announcement to being part of a new business pitch team. It's hard to do that on top of the L&D investments the company already makes, but those kinds of opportunities are rare at other big agencies and WE is primed to open the door wider for their...

    Cons

Office location on East side, very tech heavy client rolodex, no Southern California location

    Advice to Management

Keep up the goodness. This company feels like one brimming with opportunities. Would love to see more diverse clients come through the door that puts us on par with the 'big guys' and keep developing bigger presence in NYC.

I worked at WE Communications full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Some very smart and talented people, very good benefits and pay, some flexibility in working from home. Big name clients but that is changing as only Microsoft seems to be willing to pay their ridiculous fees.

    Cons

This company was born out of Microsoft and despite the friendly facade and emphasis on collaboration when they recruit you, you will soon find out that it is just as cut-throat, with other teams competing with one another for ownership rather than supporting each other. I've given ideas that clients loved but managers on "competing" teams squash because they want to gain full ownership of the project and squeeze others...

I worked at WE Communications full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Good 401k and vacation time. Some very talented people.

    Cons

This was a good place to work with an innovative, fun and collaborative culture. There was a time where it was ok to take risks and learn from them. This has changed over the last couple of years where now the leadership only cares about and somewhat scared of its main client. Leaders talk the big talk that people come first, it's ok to say no to clients, but in practice, they walk on eggshells around them - which is...

    Advice to Management

Diversify. Be good counsellors to clients but also don't be afraid to say and do the right thing for your people first. I've seen too many people thrown under the bus by the leadership and good talent leave the agency.

    Cons

High turnover of execs that impacts morale

    Advice to Management

Grow/attract talent per location, not keep sending HQ execs to other locations (they leave or get let go)
