Reasons why I love my job at WHS Smiths

      Pros

I have loved my job ever since I started roughly five months ago. I must say that WHSmith in my experience have been a very understanding, optimistic and rewarding employer in my short (hopefully longer) experience so for. I have listed my favourite things ranking 4-1. #4 - The skills that you learn in the job. I have loved learning so much with WHSmith. Being a Sales Assistant I only expected to do things such as Till Work but I have learned so much apart from that. From patience to even improving arithmetic and quickening my problem solving skills - WHSmith has helped my skill range widen. #3 - Very Understanding Whether it may be days off needed or even possibly extra hours, WHSmith have been really helpful in making sure I make the most of my time there. #2 - Very positive environment When I work at WHSmith I always feel very comfortable as they always make sure that I learn effectively and always give me help and aid me into how to make me create a better shopping atmosphere for the customer :) #1- Flexible Hours (Varies contract to contract) Compared to other teenagers, I have been blessed with the flexibility of my employer. Working at WHSmith made it easy to earn good money during school holidays but also understanding and shortening my hours at exam time :)

      Cons

The only negative is that the pay is minimum wage - but keeping in mind this is set by the government, it can't really be the fault of the company as they do reward their staff :)

      Pros

Flexible hours i.e. got to choose shifts

      Cons

Hard work was not recognised. Started a shift at 4am, did all the deliveries, paperwork, stacking shelves etc. and got paid the exact same amount as someone who would come in at 12pm and play bowling with the stock. No opportunity for pay rises or even a thank you for all the hard work I did
