I have been working at WYG

    Pros

They have an excellent graduate program offering consistent guidance A small, but very helpful and friendly team

    Cons

Perhaps a little less money compared to other salaries within the industry, but the guidance and the push for more skills over rules

    I worked at WYG full-time

    Pros

Talented, good people. Pension and benefits package is decent. Reasonable infrastructure.

    Cons

Very little idea about where the company is going. Constant change in hierarchy is unsettling. No strategy of how to fill the order book with quality and profitable work. Management’s interest in projects evaporates as soon as tenders are won, along with client’s expectations

    Advice to Management

Reward cohesive working practices. Root out those who meet targets with unprofitable work. Fill the order book with work that promotes professional development and utilises the skills that people have.

I worked at WYG full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Flexible benefits are good Some good socials

    Cons

Terrible senior and line management, with lots of people only looking out for number 1. Redundancies all over the place, people coming and going says a lot about the company. HR are slow and rubbish Pay is less compared to other consultancies Finances system is from the stone age compared to other consultancies Lack of support for young team members - doesn't help to foster growth

    Advice to Management

Train your managers how to be effective managers. Not everyone is cut out to be a manager.

I worked at WYG full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great colleagues and good working environment in London. Lot of good clients but must be careful to provide a consistently good service or lose them.

    Cons

Financially on a knife edge and almost impossible to save without major investment or outside help such as merger or takeover. Pay not of the highest and struggle to keep good staff. Some poor office locations in need of updating.

    Advice to Management

Be brave and dump the high overheads. Replace Cygnum management system with something modern. Reduce the office numbers and manual processes. Join the modern world. An injection of new senior strategy management would be beneficial.

I have been working at WYG full-time

    Pros

Flexible and empowering team management at office level, broad skill set and multi D capability, excellent bid team, a good work/life balance is promoted.

    Cons

Ineffective and uncreative senior management, some staff are poor at delivering and have little regard for client care, an entrenched silo/blame culture exists which is amplified by earnings based accounting.

    Advice to Management

Be bold at board level and make the changes that are required to improve delivery for our Clients, Shareholders and Staff.

    Cons

Graduate training completely disappeared over time, despite promising that there is continual training. Was supposed to be a well structured program, but instead consisted of a few small training sessions, of which 8 or 9 were supposed to be within a year. I was there for just under 2 years years and there were only 6 in my entire time, by the time I left it felt like this whole "2 year graduate plan" that was sold had...

    Advice to Management

CEO coming round and meeting every individual seems like a waste of his time... Actually emphasise the one WYG principal across all teams and increase flexibility between cost centres. Break down the archaic ways of consultancy working. Transparency with pay!
