      Good place to work

      Pros

Good discount, canteens, benefits such as tickets etc, good career progression in stores from supermarket assistant to team leader to ATM, TM, ABM, BM. I team lead on reductions and food service but am also trained on replenishment, checkouts and the bakery. Good pay for industry. Thorough training.

      Cons

Expected to work bad hours such as 5 in the morning starts or finishing at 10 at night. Its hard to get bank holidays off. Most of the middle management are terrible to work with as a team leader especially if they don't really understand your section. Lots of management changes: my line manager has changed 8 times in 2 years. The pay is pretty unfair as my line manager has not a clue what I do so I feel slightly underrated. The company has scrapped Partner bonuses for more profit. I also think not enough steps are being taken to become more eco-firendly.

      Pros

Fairly good pay especially when you're under 21, the people and superiors I worked with (not managers) were really friendly, easy to ask questions to and welcoming.

      Cons

Hours were either 6:00-14:00 or 13:00-21:00 and the two days off were never consecutive, this is fine but it means there's never really a proper break and I was only ever informed of my hours the week before which was extremely annoying. The higher-up managers were very superficial and generally hard to approach.

      Pros

Learn social interaction and team working skills. Get to see how a business is run. Work with great people. Good pay. Work benefits such as discount card for both John Lewis and Waitrose.

      Cons

Lack of career progression opportunities. If full time the mixed hours can get overwhelming. Having to unload delivery trucks at 5am starts, I was by myself most of the time. Lack of team leaders so if you are a natural team leader, you'll have plenty of people to train up, it's good to train people but you want enough team leaders to cover each shift throughout the day.
