I worked at WakeMed Health and Hospitals full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great hospital, nursing staff very nice and seem to care about their patients. Good life-work balance. Benefits about average for the industry.

    Cons

    Support staff over-worked and underpaid.

    Advice to Management

Your administrative and support staff are just as important as your nurses and doctors. Treat them with respect and pay them more.

I worked at WakeMed Health and Hospitals full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Some good staff working there help you grow.

    Cons

Managers in some departments have favoritism and have different rules on different employees. They let some staff get away with bullying, laziness, harrassment and not following the policies.

    Advice to Management

STOP FAVORITISM AND FOLLOW UP ON BULLYING AND HARRASSMENT ALLEGATIONS INSTEAD OF IGNORING THE VICTIM.

I worked at WakeMed Health and Hospitals full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Almost none. Going home each day and leaving on my last day.

    Cons

No real leadership throughout the company.
Zero respect for IT work and workers overall.
No time provided to do the work that needs to be done yet they keep adding sites/applications and services.
The IT Transformation has destroyed the dept. There is no longer any team work or collaboration.
The career ladder should be renamed to the career hole in the ground. Only people who are qualified are much cheaper outside staff.
Unannounced hiring freeze to begin in Oct 2018. This is not just IS but across all sectors.
IT budget is continuously cut and shorted to make up for the VP excess and whims.
They are now trying to Toyota system. The issue is they are not Toyota. They do not have what it takes to maintain anything.
The leadership cannot seem to figure out where we are losing money after 10 years of very small, limited raises and nearly no bonus to speak of.
IUf you need Employment based health benefits, WakeMed will cost you 1000.00 a month for a family plan. If you go to anyone outside of WakeMed your out of pocket costs skyrocket.

    Advice to Management

Resign and transition to Rex/UNC/Novant or Duke. Anyone is better at this then WakeMed.
