I have been working at WakeMed Health and Hospitals full-time

    Pros

WakeMed places the patient first in everything they do.

    Cons

While this is not necessarily a bad thing, they focus more on the immediate community and very little on the region. This is good for the community, but they have so much opportunity to expand their program.

I worked at WakeMed Health and Hospitals

    Pros

You meet some really great people

    Cons

Supervisors ARE NOT qualified to be leaders. They do not listen carefully to concerns and tend to dismiss everything. They do not want to take the time to address departmental concerns; it’s just easier for them to ignore everything and see how things turn out in the end. They are HORRIBLE at decision-making and resolving issues. When asked a question, they all give a different answer because no one knows the correct thing to do. They have concern for certain employees and not others (Cath Lab and EP are clearly treated differently). There are huge long-standing issues in this department that need to be addressed immediately, and this group is clearly NOT capable of handling them. It is understood that the Supervisors have been poorly managed for many years, and it is time for change. Instead of gossiping with each other all day, that time can be better spent on finding ways to make the department better. As clinical staff, we do not work so hard at educating ourselves for this. Change is a must!

    Advice to Management

This department needs to be carefully reviewed and a final decision needs to be made to have this “leadership” team ALL step down. This group needs to be replaced with ONE person who can do the job properly. To the President of WakeMed, if you read this comment, please take the time to investigate and make change.
