    Pros

Family oriented company. Always you are allowed to take care of your family and personal needs. Great benefits, insurance, PTO and bonuses at year end. I was proud to be a Wake Med employee. Pay is above average when considering the rest of the country. Add in all the benefits and you really come out with phenomenal pay.

    Cons

None to speak of, no issues.

    Advice to Management

Listen closely to what your seasoned employees have to say.

    Pros

Great benefits of course. Great skill challenges.

    Cons

Management!!! Pay was sucky--Doctors are very condescending and uptight!

    Advice to Management

If there is a high turn over rate for a specific department/clinic. Please look in to it. Sometimes its not the staff its the higher ups!

I have been working at WakeMed Health and Hospitals full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I have been here for 7 years, and the staff here was very welcoming to me as a new hire. I had worked other places before as a new grad and never got much support from management and other nurses at those places like I did when I got here. They had some issues with the former CEO Bill Atkinson, but they fired him and the current CEO, Donald Gintzing is great. He actually gets out of the office and talks to the staff, and is very personable. All staff here really like each other. It's a teaching hospital that's not attached to a university, but no issues with the residents and attendings like other hospitals in the area. They value your input as a nurse.

    Cons

financially still a little unstable. pay is increasing but not keeping up with national average, and no wakeshare (cost sharing bonus) for the last few years-Bill Atkinson ran us into the red a bit. Clinical ladder (NPDP) program is a little arduous to keep up with. Management has no problem contacting you when you are off, which can get annoying.

    Advice to Management

please find ways to limit contact when employees are not working.

    Pros

Great benefits, work is appreciated and Mangement is beyond awesome

    Cons

Pay is low, but my experience shows that some of the best companies are best for other reasons. Wake Med is exceptional in its commitment to its employees and patients.

    Advice to Management

Listen when employees speak a little better
