I have been working at Wolters Kluwer full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Products are great (on paper). Work environment is okay if you do not have any ambition

    Cons

Management defines high-level objectives without any understanding of the challenges involved which ends up encouraging employees to cut corner to meet them. This has an adverse impact in the long-term. It also creates frictions internally because everyone’s goals are not aligned. Consultants have financial objectives to meet which are uncorrelated to their actual work such as billable time which is the actual responsibility of sales and managers

I worked at Wolters Kluwer full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

I worked there 6 years, in two very different divisions, one in Europe and one in Asia. If you are lucky and join the right division, you can get a good work-life balance and some good leaders (who were promoted on merit, not who they know) who support their staff and try and live the company's values. If you join the wrong division, forget all that.

    Cons

Wolters Kluwer is essentially run like a whole bunch of SMEs, pretending they're a big company. That silo nature means the advancement opportunities and earning potential are more limited, and there is no overall company culture because it varies so wildly. And yet, it still has big company issues like lack of adaptability, and poor legacy tech systems. Some divisions are good places to work - promotions more on merit, inclusive teams, cooperation between teams. And some divisions are filled with nepotism and institutionalised sexism (where the female senior managers are systematically sidelined and eventually forced out by the boy's club), half the teams seem to think they're in competition with the other half and so act to undermine each other, and lack of accountability means the incompetent can mess up every major project they run, and yet still keep getting promoted if they suck up to the right people.
