Pros

You get to live in another country, speak a new language, experience a new culture, and meet a lot of new, interesting people. You're connected with a job, friends, a support system and a host family through this program.

Cons

The support often feels lacking, especially when you need help dealing with the institution you're working for.

Pros

Worked 4 hours a day Made lifelong friends The pay is decent (considering which country you're living in) Don't need experience to get accepted

Cons

Some of the teachers were not fully prepared to teach and were kinda thrown into their classrooms on the first day

Pros

It was a great year with wonderful students and friendly co-teachers who are Columbian. Enjoyed fellow Americans also in the program. Training to prepare for our year of teaching was very good.

Cons

The site coordinator in Cartagena tried hard to help us but there always seemed to be roadblocks. Support isn't consistent - we understood her limitations, but found many frustrations, since I'm sure dealing with Columbian governments is also frustrating. Seems to be part of the country's culture - disorganization
