I worked at Yahoo full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great people and culture, working environment is pretty good

    Cons

CEO centralised most key decisions leaving a complex matrix organisation unable to be autonomous and make decisions quickly. Yahoo believes being the tortoise will get you there eventually but it's unlikely - Yahoo at times needs to be the Hare, invent fast, test and learn quickly and launch some winning products that are used and loved by consumers at scale. The employee ranking/scoring system sucks. Working from home is frowned upon. Too US-centric/forgets is has an international business

    Advice to Management

decentralise hiring and product decisions, invest in the international markets, ditch the scoring system for employees, make results the kpi not hours in the office or location

I worked at Yahoo full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    -Free food
-Fun and well-funded Summer and Christmas parties
-You get your own brand new mac and IPhone
-Great expense account if you work in Sales
-High energy atmosphere which is refreshing compared to other office jobs
-Good emphasis on training and skill development . Lots of workshops to attend if you have the time.

    Cons

-Serious lack of female or BME managers at senior level or even middle management.Apart from the odd token female pretty much all the managers are part of the 'old boys club' and are seriously lacking in technical knowledge.
-Multiple rounds of redundancies after the merger with AOL.Many great managers have been let go whilst many dinosaurs have been kept on.
-Far too many outdated products , should pick a couple and specialise . This means that products are often mid-sold out of confusion.
-Pay is very sub-par compared to the likes of Facebook and Google etc.

    Advice to Management

It's 2017, talented female and/or BME employees are going to leave if they see zero diversity at the top.
