      Pressure Sales

Aug 2, 2021 - Digital Marketing Consultant in Cardiff, Wales, Wales

      Pros

Not many, yes you get to work from home … but the only benefit you would get from that is being able to eat lunch at home, not allowed any more than 3 minutes off a call. They are very heavily monitored so you end up being questioned when you’ve gone to make a brew. Incentives are great ….. if you actually get them. You could achieve what is required for the incentive and then spend months tracking down the rewards

      Cons

Management - some really great managers but they are just far too pressured from their call centre managers. Constant change and not in the good way, sky high targets with maybe 3 useable leads per day …. But you’ve got to get 3 hours talk time & 180 dials per day on them … Very very hard to hit a full time target, unless of course you are looking to work in to the evening and weekends. I have been asked to work whilst off on holiday. Targets are not updated inline with holiday, so if you have time off … tou still have a full target to achieve. Rolling out tiers of telesales roles …. But you’re kept on constant trial, even when they say they are not taking in to account the previous two months as they had been hard months, hitting target on the 3rd month … nope, still they keep the trial, don’t increase your salary but give you the higher tier target to achieve with abismal lead volumes. You are not allowed to let a customer off the phone. Why you may ask? Because Yell have terrible online reviews from customers, if you let a customer off the phone… they’re going to see the reviews and will not want to continue the call. It happens ALOT Contracts are becoming a thing of the past for digital marketing, but Yell cannot change their ways in this, as if they suddenly stopped requesting 12 month contract minimums then customers will be able to see that yell doesn’t work and cancel causing the business to fail. Yell is unfortunately a sinking ship, they cannot stem the flow of staff churn but equally cannot provide adequate lead levels. This is an ideal job as a stop gap, but anything long term you will end up signing off sick with stress.

      Pros

the lunch and home- time, WHICH THEY INTRUDE ON

      Cons

wow, where do i start!! You will become stressed, you will have your commission revoked you will be given false information constantly and incentives revoked ( once you have exceeded what the company wants). . you will have no clear pathway to resolve any queries and realistically the company will eventually treat you with the same contempt they apparently show their customers overall. your targets will increase while your bonus will not. In fact . you will be expected to work longer hours even if that means 9pm callbacks, also weekends, which they incentivize you to work and then have a clause to give them the power to revoke or simply not pay you. THERE IS ALWAYS A SMALL PRINT!!!!! You will be given 3-5 leads per day if you are lucky, and most times these have no numbers to call, kids at school asking for information or no enquiry made and even no Business exists. you are expected to make 3.5 hours of talktime and 100 dials from that "data" , which mostly has been called on average 15 times a day already. You will be expected to continue to call from multiple mobile and landline numbers yell provide, they call this geo masking. you can guess what the customer says when the finally answer after 120 calls over 3 days for example. You are encouraged to get the customer to sign after draining both yourself and the customer for around 2.5 hours on a " co browse" by which stage the customer needs to return to running his business. Even if they are driving! You will have tech issues and just told ring tech. This is abroad and when you call them they have tech issues which means you can never hear what you should do to resolve your pc issues. The equipment you are given could be in a museum. NOW THE IMPORTANT BIT : There are/ were some great people that do and did work for the Business that really do have the clients best interest at heart and DO provide something that the customer needs, or some verbal advice, unfortunately there are a significant number of people tendering their resignation due to these practices. It is with the help of these reviews now that gives the true information to the public. . . The management are inexperienced and most have no digital marketing experience, for me its an overhead for the company that they could do without. Also most of the sales staff are just that , very few could build you a website or really be able to explain and convey to a customer what they really need. It's a script read hard sell where the agents are told to get their pc attached to the business PC within 3 minutes. They call it Co- browse. I CAN NOW UNDERSTAND WHY TRADING STANDARDS AND INDEED THE GOVERNMENT ARE INVESTIGATING THEIR BUSINESS. YOU ONLY HAVE TO GOOGLE IT.

      Best Avoided

Jul 30, 2021 - Sales in Belfast, Northern Ireland, Northern Ireland

      Pros

Very few talking points to celebrate about what the company actually can deliver with professionalism. Some truly great colleagues, with individual core skills and drive, some totally customer centric colleagues. There are very many individual people, trying to make a difference.

      Cons

Lack of integrity and consistency from middle management ,total lack of transparency when seeking clarification on issues relating to pay, reward and benefits. A desire to manage the space between calls as an absolute life or death issue, managers fail to grasp there is far more to sales than simply speaking, the sales process involves, sending an email, sending a brochure, this is always discouraged and frowned upon. You will be given leads to dial, to convert, these leads will be previously dialed by other colleagues,15 times each, more, so your leads to convert are in essence almost worthless, converting something which other agents have tried for weeks to also convert. There is an endless incentive scheme, which is in truth make believe. The company will advise you will receive Yell Reward vouchers when you pass accreditation, you will not, you will ask, several times for your reward...it will not materialize. The company will advise you will be rewarded for having ,the biggest sale of the week, you will achieve the large sale, and sadly, you will not receive your incentive, you will ask your manager, but, you will never receive what you have been advised is yours, this is particularly disappointing. There can be a very slow response time ,from other areas of the business in the desire to assist the customer with speed, very slow, and a general lack of collaboration from the other important areas of the business. The way you will be measured as efficient is is dial rate, so you will have perhaps 5 leads( on a good day) and of these leads,1 will be a deadline, 1 will be student doing research, so you might have 4,maybe5 leads, and be expected to hit 180 dials, and 3hours talk time, if you have 4 leads and dial each one 40 plus times a day.......what happens when the customer answers on the 41st attempt???Is that customer happy to be called 40 plus in a day?? This 41st attempt which is answered, then becomes an absolute pressure sale, front loaded with acute pressure, plus you must never allow the customer off the call, ever.
