I worked at Yorkshire Building Society Group full-time

    Pros

Can give customers excellent service due to the number of customers walking in. Know all your customers by their name.

    Cons

Progression within is slow and can be a reason for people to look at other opputunities outside

    Advice to Management

Creating more roles and offering more products which can also attract different age groups.

    Pros

Some of the most lovely people you will ever meet!
    Modern environment
    Plenty of parking spaces

    Cons

Note this is towards the Business development role within Accord sales

Toxic management/heirarchy, they couldn't give a toss about the individual, bullying and snide comments are rife within this area of the group. Seems the only place that has it actually. Avoid accord sales at all costs!

Treated as a 4 year old at times for genuinely asking a question

    Bullying from higher management

Stressful workload, all they really care about is how many calls ect you take, regardless of how much work on top they add on. For example

    Advice to Management

Maybe actually listening to the individual. I've been at the group for 6 years before making the decision to leave. The stress, bullying, toxic environment has already taken a toll on my mental health and i wouldn't wish a role and surrounding people like this for my worst enemy!

I have been working at Yorkshire Building Society Group full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Nice offices, ambitious agenda, trying to be better

    Cons

An unpleasant undercurrent of bad management practices, in and out groups, if your face fits with senior people and you're nice/don't challenge ideas then you're alright.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your people, properly engage with them in solving problems, invest in the staff that will be left

    Pros

YBS offers a good starting block for your career, entry level jobs are aplenty and support to further your career is good.
There is also a good focus on life outside of work and family friendly policies are getting better.

    Cons

Very old fashioned outlook and it seems opinions from branches aren't considered as highly as those from head office.
Pay isn't as competitive as other financial institutions.

    Advice to Management

Listen to first point of contact staff who deal with customers as we are a customer driven business.
Offer more competive pay and stop restructuring the lines of management as it's offering fewer and fewer progression opportunities.
