I worked at ZF TRW full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Can learn new stuff and have very knowledgeable people around. Friendly work environment. Free parking. Canteen available but not great food.

    Cons

    - No growth. - Year end review does not hold any value. - Short vision managers. - Managers more interested in politics between sites and getting more people under them. - HR is crap and does more admonition work rather managing employees. - Pay increments are miniscule. - Keeps losing their best employees and never learn.

    Advice to Management

Try holding onto ur best employees. It doesn't make sense to hire a new employees and pay them a lot and train them when u could have just paid the same money to ur old ones.

Former Employee - Electrical Engineer in Solihull, England

I worked at ZF TRW full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Plenty of experienced engineers around (15 yrs+ is not uncommon), a good pool of project, procedures and lesson learned. Unfortunately, most of the times that voice of experience is not followed. Things might have changed already under ZF, but all mergers take time.

    Cons

Too many crises around with escalations and interventions from managers in engineering day-to-day activity which is an inhibitor for innovation and good practice.

    Advice to Management

Although the "crisis" creates a challenging environment on which some actually flourish, but when it happens too often (and whilst I was there it did), it can become very frustrating and chase good engineers away: not everybody can cope to this environment

I worked at ZF TRW full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Nice green land around the office. Team members (below Team Leaders) are nice and friendly.

    Cons

Rubbish management. I can't find words. Unfair expectations all the time. They might think we are droids with mind reading senses. No feedback of the work we do. Only at the end they bring all blame on employees. Closed minded managers, don't even listen the employees thoughts, wishes, opinions. Seems they have a good strategy how to defend their-self in case of complaints. They expect us to work like droids.... Manager highlighted multiple times that the required work hour of the week is just the minimum, so was excepting more to work for free. Deadlines can't be met as starter (as nothing explained, no any training at all), but expected to know everything. If some new ideas or complaint have been raised against the current processes then management become picky on employee and put more regulation on her/him and more unfair tasks, deadlines etc... that leads the employee to leave finally, otherwise her/his life become a horrible humiliating nightmare within company walls, day by day. It's not a coincidence this company is losing customers one by one.

    Advice to Management

Go retirement, and let the good young people to lead, who are open minded and work TOGETHER with employees not humiliating and forcing them to leave because having different (better) idea.

    I worked at ZF TRW

    Pros

TRW was a sales focused organisation, typically US in its mindset with focus on numbers, numbers, numbers. ZF will change the perspective.

    Cons

Many European employees been at same desk for years sometimes at odds with US philosphy. Management aloof from workers.

    Advice to Management

Look at the value in the employees you have
