I have been working at Zenjob full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - many nice colleagues - dog-friendly office and free lunch on Fridays - very casual atmosphere

    Cons

    - very cliquish, drunk college-boy culture (company parties are insane) - most people in management have no experience in management - lots of backstabbing, secrets, talking behind people's backs, even by HR staff - only men get promoted - anyone who is really good is looking for another job - extremely poor company ethics and culture (open and inherent sexism, racism, ageism, nepotism)

I have been working at Zenjob full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The new office is really nice even though located in Moabit (initially sold to us as being in Mitte!). There are some really smart and talented individuals who are really passionate about their work. It is very dog friendly although lot of dogs have left unfortunately. Usually great work life balance but depends in which department you are. Free lunch on Fridays and drinks but you would expect this at any start up now.

    Cons

It would be great if the Founders actually lived the values they promote so passionately. Yes the values sound great on paper and on all the many posters but if you don't live by them then perhaps consider adding un/dis in front of your values of honest, helpful, humble and hungry. The environment at Zenjob has become more and more toxic since I first joined. I have lost track of how many times employees were just let go without any reason other than the generic answer of “they were not a good fit”. After a while this does not hold true anymore and the underlying issues are within the organization and not with the hiring/recruiting. Lack of accountable management: The past few months have been insane with some big departures including the COO and six VP's, all of whom were pushed out the door. Considering all of them had more experience than the Founders combined, it is a surprise that they were not allowed to really make a positive difference. Besides the mid-management, there is also a very high turnover in the senior staff – somehow their experience is not valued or taken onboard and unfortunately they leave. There are many issues at Zenjob but the root cause is easy to identify. The management team have no regard for the “People” who work super hard every day to not only drive Zenjob forward but to also cover over the many cracks in the foundations. Micro management is seen as the way forward to great success.
