I have been working at athenahealth full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    1. Culture - Out of all the companies(4), I have never come across a company with a culture paralleling this. 2. Freedom to explore opportunities - (Inhouse training on skill development - SQL, Python & Softskills) 3. Lateral movements. 4. Recognising top performers/ initiatives.

    Cons

Being in the company for over 5 years & seen the changes post acquisition/ merger, the culture has changed considerable, atleast for the tenured. But still option to up-skill and move internally are feasible.

I have been working at athenahealth full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Travel for work to places you may never consider going to/always wanted to go. Promote internal entrepreneurship. Great co-workers. Bring dogs to office W-F. Accrue and rollover PTO into the following year. Great insurance. Free yoga on Wednesdays. Great as a "foot in the door" position.

    Cons

Low pay, in comparison to other EMR implementation roles. Political favoritism. Micro-management over menial tasks. Classism from different departments . Lack of respect from hierarchy. No room for growth. Little to no work while in office. In contrast, given busy work from project management that they don't want to do with unrealistic deadlines. Measurable work responsibilities that could be taken care of... at home seen as being "lazy" and frowned upon. Low morality, except during quarterly Happy Hour. Entitlement is rampant among peers. Promotion within department is interview-based, not merit-based. Lack of diversity/all of the Atlanta office's "diversity" is within this one department.

    Advice to Management

Hire fewer, better candidates and pay them adequate compensation for their roles. People are leaving the company entirely because the culture is changing to a more corporate setting. Internally promote people based on their merit and experience, not interview skills.

I worked at athenahealth full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The work will always keep you on your toes depending on which team you belong.

    Cons

A lot of politics and if you can keep shaking your head to whatever the manager says you will survive else your doomed.

    Advice to Management

People you hire are actually providing their services to you. Don't treat them like your slaves.

I worked at athenahealth full-time for less than a year

    Pros

They have a lot to offer on campus for dining and activities for their employees.

    Cons

Insufficient Training, Management expects unrealistic expectations, not nearly as flexible with time off as they say they are.

    Advice to Management

Instead of forcing people to use their limited resources, more actual hell needs to be available for the client service staff. It is unrealistic for client support staff to do the sufficient amount of work for the client with the goals management wants you to meet.

I worked at athenahealth full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The company keeps employee morale up by doing contest, a monthly beer cart, catered food and snacks. The managers are there to help you develop in your career and move up the ranks. Awesome place to work!! I miss this place!!

    Cons

The only con I have is that I was not able to reach my full potential because the CSC was shut down.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing!!
