I have been working at athenahealth full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great flexibility and WFH policies. Solid base pay and bonus percentage. Depending on the team you can have a clear vision and as much freedom to work on projects as you want.

    Cons

Unfortunately the company and the culture have been in a spiral since the original Elliot investment. Athena has gone from a company focused on fixing healthcare to one that it just trying to make a buck for our shareholders (though I guess that was a given when we were a public company). It was refreshing to start here and be led by such a passionate group of leaders who had a passion and actually wanted to unbreak healthcare....

    Advice to Management

Be honest with the employees. Stop trying to gloss over the fact that we are owned by a giant PE firm that just wants to make a few bucks. I'd rather leadership tell us they don't care about healthcare and just want to flip the company in a few years, then try to ramble around this fact.

I have been working at athenahealth full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Absolutely loved working here before the Virence Health merger & Bob Segert coming on. Very cool campus, it makes up for the commute to Watertown. Great on-site cafe & coffee bar, plus food trucks every day. Shuttles that run from many Boston neighborhoods + Cambridge. Competitive entry-level pay.

    Cons

The merger is an absolute mess, leaving employees on both sides feeling frustrated & undervalued by leadership. Complete lack of diversity, higher-ups are exclusively white males. New CEO is a "professional CEO" who enters a company "reinvents" it and it on to his next gig - knows absolutely nothing about athena or the health care industry in general (doesn't seem to care either?). The great people that once loved...

    Advice to Management

Fix the glaring diversity gap. Get a CEO that actually knows the industry and cares about this company and its people. HR should stop pretending employees' feedback matters to ELT when it doesn't.

I worked at athenahealth full-time for more than 3 years

      Pros

-Competitive Pay -Strong support of remote employees, work from home culture -Average to slightly above average benefits -No micro-management (at least not in my division) -(Formerly) mission-driven culture -Well stocked break rooms (including beer) -Generous employee appreciation events, $95 per-diem (for traveling employees) -By and large, people were treated with respect and dealt with fairly

      Cons

This biggest downside to this company is that it's rapidly dissolving into a shadow of its former self. When Jonathan Bush, Todd & Ed Park, and other founding leadership ran the company, the vision a purpose of the place was downright infectious. It created a strong culture that led to innovative products and services, and made sales easier because customers were naturally attracted to the company. That all changed...

I have been working at athenahealth full-time for more than 3 years

      Pros

This review is actually not for athenahealth pune but is for praxify, because athenahealth is actually a great place to work in but unfortunately in pune it's nothing like bangalore or chennai. Although benefits and salaries are equally good but athenahealth pune is basically a brand name over praxify - which is a start-up they acquired in 2017. Praxify was also known as xtremum solutions before and anyone can look...

      1. management is least interested or serious about task in hand, more than half of the day senior folks is no where in picture and sometimes the site head appears and just blasts people on how awful the product has been, managers and directors just shift blames rather than owning up things. 2. when you are getting paid 4 to 5 times (lakhs) of your experience, you are more over locked and stuck. 3. manipulative...

      1. if you would have paid enough attention we wouldn't have been in place where we are in. 2. please do not spoil people's career by bloating their CTC unnecessary when even they dont want it. 3. please come up with better people management strategies, work on your emotional intelligence. 4. try to delegate if not everything at least few to next level if its too much for you. 5. nothing really, cut down...

I have been working at athenahealth full-time for more than 5 years

      Pros

The location of the office, can’t be beat. Easy access to the beltline with free bikes, fruit delivered biweekly, good health insurance and that’s about it

      Cons

No advancement for minorities AT ALL. It seems as though people of color don’t exist. So much great talent within, however over looked. Salary is not that great compared to the average in Atlanta. No room for growth.

      Advice to Management

There are some who bend over backwards, and have yet to be recognized with a promotion- that’s a problem. Condescending attitude of managers should change. And the pay should increase
