Pros
A few nice people in the company and nice overall staff in depot
Cons
Senior management have treated many staff unfairly. I was shouted “shut up” sworn at in conference calls by senior management. I made a complaint to HR, a senior manager interviewed me along with the manager who swore at me and the next day my probation was extended. Many staff in office not capable of doing their work which I raised several times but this was moaned about but ignored. So many customer details incorrect… scheduling issues, management issues, they have stopped overtime for anybody but drivers. Benefits are rubbish. No sick pay until after 2 years. Expect a lot of work but not much pay!

Pros
Great bunch of people to work with and lots of collaboration between the different areas of the business. Very nice offices with good facilities and free car parking on site.
Cons
As a growing business Phs is a very fast paced and busy working environment which may not suit everyone.

Hi there, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. The free parking is very beneficial to people that are used to working in city centre locations that have to pay for parking - And the teams really do help make the job great! Pros
Having vowed I would never work in a Telesales environment - having worked with PHS for 2.5 years now - I love the job. The Company is structured, has vision - knows what it wants to achieve and how its going to do so. The people here are great - we all look out for each other - we have leaders, but not dictators. Relaxed working environment with music playing all day - we have been known to have the odd dance when we get the sales in! We have reasonable and achievable monthly targets to work towards - which if you put the work in - you get the results, which means a healthy bonus at the end of the period and quarter. Good commission structure....... I've had my best period ever, on target to achieve 150% of my quarterly bonus ...... that means over £5k over 3 periods... Happy Days! Our area of the Business is growing and we are looking for some more great people to join us - so if you are like I used to be, thinking Telesales is not the job - think again - working for PHS could be the best thing you ever do. PHS provide an in-depth induction course - you will not be thrown in at the deep end.
Cons
If I can be picky - we can tend to fight over air conditioning.

Pros
In my short time within the company it is great to see the team ethos being displayed, not just in the division I work for, but across the whole company. Whether you are in a role that works from home or based in Head Office there is always somebody at the end of a phone call or email that wants to help. They have the appetite to want to recognise people for a job well done through praise and recognition which is encouraging to see.
Cons
It would be great to see the company offer private medical insurance as an employee benefit alongwith the other benefits provided at present

Pros
PHS offered free lunch for all employees with a great selection, also cheap breakfasts on a Friday. Big offices with everything all under one roof. Nice people and a community atmosphere.
Cons
Very outdated building on an industrial estate. Management and executives very set in their ways, reluctant to try new things out of their comfort zone.

Pros
Great working with a good bunch of people. You spend everyday with the people you work therefore its a blessing coming to work with colleagues every day.
Cons
Some teams lack resources - would be good to employ more people.

Pros
Some really skilled and experienced people within the company. Hard work ethic and drive to succeed. Some incredible managers, but sadly all too few.
Cons
Ingrained negative cultural attitudes. Bullying culture set by CEO trickles down and used by the weaker elements of the management teams. Nepotistic churning of management teams, people moved to parts of the business who have little or no experience in the sector creating a management style of helicoptering and delegation adding greater pressure on the experienced parts of the team. No benefits other than the statutory requirements, which the company likes to imply is given generously. Making the business too lean so that it has become a stressful, negative environment. By centralising most elements of the business along with the ingrained cultural attitudes parts of the business, the employees and customers suffer. This is aggravated by management and departments self congratulating themselves on social media. The company likes to imply they are an inclusive, diverse driven company but this is mostly smoke and mirrors, aspiration rather than where they are actually functioning. The company is struggling within sectors that are only going to see more cuts due to the changes in the way we will work in the future.

Hi, First of all - Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a detailed review. I'd like to address as much as I can. You're absolutely right - There are some great people in the company, with experience key to our success. I can see you're an ex-employee - Sadly, I can't see when you left. We've had a new CEO come in in 2018, offering new perspectives and a clear direction for the business. Regarding benefits - We do recognize there are more benefits out there than we currently offer, and it's something we are regularly looking at opportunities to develop. Our holiday allowance is above the statutory - We offer 28 days leave, plus paid leave over Christmas (Where Christmas isn't an option, time in lieu is offered.) - This means we're offering over 30 days per annum. We also have life assurance, discounts, and are currently looking at other avenues. If you have any suggestions, I'd love to hear from you. It's a shame to hear you don't feel the company is committed to diversity and inclusion. I can promise you, phs is dedicated to ensuring a diverse, inclusive workforce. I don't mind sharing that I am the resourcing manager, and I am both a member of the LGBT community, and live with an invisible disability. I can personally assure you, we have a focus on inclusion. However, if this isn't felt within the business - I'd like to know what I can do to change that. Diversity and Inclusion is a personal passion and focus for me, and the commitment and focus on this within the business has come directly from the CEO – I’m happy to have a chat and talk through anything you’d like to share/recommendations. Several of the comments within your review mention management styles and leadership. Going back to my original comment - I can't see when you left the business, but the business is evolving - Especially in this new landscape Covid-19 has created. If there is anything specific you'd like to feedback, or anything you'd like to share or discuss - I'd really appreciate the opportunity to have a chat. Thank you again, Henry Field Resourcing Manager henryfield@phs.co.uk

Hello, Thank you for your review, and it's lovely to hear you felt the team spirit we have here at phs Group. We conducted an employee survey last year which resulted in majority of our employees wanting better benefits. We took this on board and have recently launched new benefits which include a discount platform which saves you money on your weekly shop, electrical goods and much more. We have also introduced a buy and sell holiday scheme and phs shop which provided you with discounts on household products. Kindest regards, Elis Collins Resourcing Manager eliscollins@phs.co.uk
