It’s time to celebrate what matters most…people! The Love Laundry Awards are back, shining a light on the unsung heroes of care home laundries. Created by WASHCO in 2021, the awards aim to honour those making a difference behind the scenes. They reflect values we hold dear and are a great way for care home professionals to recognise the dedication of laundry teams around the country. The awards now feature new categories inspired by the amazing stories we received from people nominating their colleagues and homes in previous years. The categories are: - Laundry Hero Award – To honour an individual who goes above and beyond the call of duty in the laundry room. - Laundry sustainability award – to celebrate environmental sustainability initiatives. - Laundry leadership award – to acknowledge exceptional leadership. - Laundry trailblazer award – to recognise people who challenge the accepted and enable innovation. WASHCO celebrates those who go the extra mile day in and day out. That same spirit shapes how the team is supported, recognised, and valued every day at WASHCO.
Earlier this month, the WASHPOINT team travelled to Cirencester for the 2025 ASRA Conference – a key event for student accommodation professionals across the UK. It was a great opportunity to connect with the sector, show what we had to offer and bring some fun to the floor with our Beat the Buzzer game. After a full day of networking, the team joined attendees for a cowboy-themed evening, complete with hats, boots and line dancing! At WASHCO, our people get the chance to attend events, meet new faces and explore new places across the UK.
Our very own Vicky Clarke, one of our National Account Managers, has been selected to represent England in the West Indies Women’s Softball Tournament! In April next year, Vicky will be flying to Barbados to take part in the 10-day tour. The tournament takes place over 3 days giving her the chance to play teams from Jamaica, the USA, Pakistan and many other countries. At our WASHCO, we believe in supporting our employees' passions and work/life balance. We offer two days community passion leave to encourage our team members to pursue their interests and get involved in their community. Congratulations Vicky! We know you’ll do us proud.
Our very own MD, Pete Hosking, had a chat with the lovely people at Infinity Group UK and shared how Microsoft Dynamics will transform WASHCO for the better. This new system will offer the WASHCO team more automation, accessibility and efficiency by streamlining processes, enhancing collaboration and providing valuable insights. Harnessing the power of technology will allow WASHCO to provide faster, more efficient and personalised customer service. Watch the full interview to find out more!
Big shout out to our WASHPOINT installation team for, once again, going above and beyond to deliver a great service to our customers! We couldn't be best-in-class without you. The laundry rooms always look amazing and our customers know they are in safe hands! Here's to another year of teamwork and happy customers.
The WASHCO team have been spreading some Christmas cheer this year by collecting chocolate, biscuits, tea, cleaning supplies, toiletries and various other items to donate to Jean’s House in Southampton, one of Young Lives vs Cancer’s homes from homes. Young Lives vs Cancer are a charity that supports children who were diagnosed with cancer and their families. By helping them cope with what cancer throws at them and, giving them a free place to stay near treatment centres, they enable families to stay together and face everyday challenges. If you’d like to offer your support, you can find out more information from www.younglivesvscancer.org.uk.
In late October, members of the team co-presented a CUBO round table session with the Residence Deputy Manager at Southampton University. The webinar was attended by current WASHPOINT (WASHCO’s managed laundry solution) customers as well as other university accommodation staff who wanted to learn how this collaborative project involving Southampton University's residence team, student union and WASHCO led to the development and rollout of ‘free’ laundry services for students. WASHCO have been working with Southampton University to understand students' needs and expectations when it comes to their accommodation. This led to the development of an exclusive model where the cost of the laundry facilities is built into the students’ rent. Watch the round table here:
Earlier this month members of the WASHCO team stepped up to the Chiltern 50 Ultra Challenge Series, – walking or running an impressive 25km or 50km through the stunning Chiltern Hills! 🚶♀️🏃♂️ All of this was for a cause close to our hearts – raising funds for Young Lives vs Cancer, a charity dedicated to supporting young people facing cancer and their families. 💜 Our team smashed our target raising just over £5000 for Young Lives Vs Cancer 🙌 A huge thank you to everyone who supported, donated, and cheered us on – your contributions are making a real difference in young lives. Together, we’re helping to bring strength and hope to those who need it most. 💪💫
