Did you spot us at Manchester Pride? We joined in with our friends and partners in the LGBT+ Community! Ahead of the parade, we connected with members of the community for an evening of dinner and drinks attended by friends from our Pride Never Stops Campaign and partners from The Proud Trust, Gaydio, Zebedee and our own LGBT+ Equality volunteer group. On Saturday, we headed to Manchester Pride with our LGBT+ Equality charity partner The Proud Trust. Proud Trust empowers young people to be proud of who they are, they deliver youth work and one-to-one support across Greater Manchester and Cheshire. Team members from Head Office and our Manchester Trafford Store joined the parade with The Proud Trust staff and young people supported by the charity. Following this, we headed back to Proud Place, the Proud Trust’s safe space for LGBT+ youth in the heart of Manchester where young people could attend a workshop from Kooth Digital Health (United Kingdom), and were treated to ice cream, an amazing drag act and a screening of Heartstopper! Pride is an incredible time to celebrate the LGBT+ community, but so is every day. We’re committed to equal opportunities and inclusion for all. Our Mission is to encourage and support everyone of all sexualities and gender identities to express themselves, celebrate and explore their unique talents.

This week is Mental Health Awareness Week! Mindfulness is a great way to look after your mental health. We caught up with our charity partners The Mix and spunout, to find out what mindfulness is and how it can work for you. Mindfulness is the practice of focusing on the present to avoid being overwhelmed by your thoughts. You can do it through activities like: Meditation Breathing exercises Short walks Gratitude journaling Mindfulness has many benefits and can work wonders for the mind. You may experience: Better focus and concentration Appreciating the here and now Reduced stress and anxiety levels Better understanding of your emotions The key to building a helpful mindful practice is consistency. It can take a while to integrate mindfulness and if it doesn’t work for you, it’s okay – it’s not for everyone. If you or someone you know is struggling with their mental health, visit our charity partners for essential support. If you’re in the UK, visit The Mix Charity and if you’re in Ireland, visit spunout.
Last week we opened the doors to our brand new Merry Hill Kids store! Huge congratulations to all involved and good luck to Phoebe and the team, who look forward to seeing you all soon!
