Background to the Role
This is an excellent opportunity to join a small and friendly accounts team in a professional legal services firm and work closely with our Credit Controller who will supervise the role.
This will initially be a four-month contract, but may be open to extension.
Days & Hours of Work
Contracted work days are Tuesdays/Wednesdays and Thursdays from 8.30am – 4.30pm. However, a degree of flexibility is expected should business need dictate a change to working days/times or in the event of planned/unplanned absence.
Candidates must also be flexible regarding duties, able to manage their own time and quickly get up to speed on new processes.
Whilst not an exhaustive list, typical daily duties will include:
Contacting and chasing clients by phone and email;
Keeping credit control notes updated on aged debt report;
Keep a credit control diary to follow up on calls, promised payments;
Print and issue statements for all 4 firm departments;
Update Conflict Checks report;
Deal with all emails;
Open Items Reports on a daily basis;
In conjunction with the Credit Controller, regularly meet with Accounts Manager & CEO to discuss overdue invoices;
Arrange meetings with Partners & Senior Partners of the firm to resolve queries, discuss future & current billing;
Issuing invoices to clients;
Resolve invoice queries.
Skills and Competencies
Minimum of a year’s previous credit control experience, preferably gained within a legal accounts environment;
Intermediate level Excel skills and good working knowledge of other Microsoft Office packages;
Excellent communication and inter-personal skills; confident but polite on the telephone;
Good organisation skills and excellent attention to detail;
Ability to prioritise work and juggle multiple tasks;
Strong team-player, hardworking, with a flexible, positive and committed approach to work;
Able to use Excel – intermediate skills
Able to work under pressure
Able to prioritise work load
A knowledge of WIP (work in progress) would be useful, but not essential.
1st stage – Interview with HR and Credit Controller
2nd stage – Interview with Accounts Manager and HR
Salary circa £25K dependant on quality of relevant experience.
25 days holiday per annum (pro rated for length of contract)
Contributory pension scheme with a 3% Employer Contribution (after completion of 3 months service)
