I would like to move out of retail management. I need something that will pay equivalent to pay of a retail store manager. I am just ready to be out of retail management. I need any referrals or insight on a job opening. I have been in retail management for over 13 years so I’m very great at customer service management, leadership, and speaking with other departments to handle situations. Please help!!
Curious. How would someone pivot back into doing receptionist work after more than 5 years spent in a higher position? It seems that interviewers can't get past what the last job was, even though it is no longer relevant to the job seeker, and that person is experienced in front reception work, and the sedentary role would be perfect for that applying person.
I am 37. I’ve worked the last 3 years with Substance Use Disorder clients as an Admissions Coordinator/Reception Lead, with 10+ years overall in public-facing roles. I’m burned out from constant direct customer service and looking to transition into a behind-the-scenes position. Interested in warehouse, shipping/receiving, mail processing, packaging, or similar work. I’m reliable, learn quickly, easy to train, and can handle physical work. Seeking advice on making the switch.
How do I get past the AI companies are using to get a new job in a new field? I lost my career as a truck driver due to health reasons. twenty years down the drain. i was out of work for 3.5 months before taking a job from a temp agency. that pays just over minimum wage. I have worked in other industries prior to driving including owning a small business with 15 employees. I get refusals quickly almost every time I to a job I'm interested in. Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated.
How does one even begin to think to go back to work when life isn’t just lifing, you went through some really f’d up stuff… career pivot from customer service possible start but what low stress jobs hire people like me with a social anxiety and ptsd? Work from home are so hard to find but best option.
I only had 2 years in retail management after about 8 working PT in high school and college but it was tough for me (the job market was different 13 years ago). I ended up finding success in staffing for a temp agency where my customer service skills, business, and store HR experience were a great fit. (If you've had to hire for holidays in a busy store, talk to employees who were late or didn't show up, correct behavior, etc., you have some limited HR experience from your retail management days. I transitioned out of staffing after 4 year and into a Corporate HR Generalist role. It all depends on what interests you but the pay was lateral for me to move into staffing without a cut. If it's a pay cut for you, there are opportunities to earn bonuses quarterly and most companies also work in direct hire where Recruiters are typically commissioned a percent of company profits per hire.
That sounds good. As the store manager I am in charge of all of those things. I have to hire, interview ect. I wouldn’t mind doing staffing or hr , but I don’t have an Hr degree.
I work at DaVita and I would look at facility administrator roles in your local area. I don’t know if other companies have similar operations roles but we hire a lot of retail managers into these positions. I can’t say it is likely much better but a stepping stone into another type of role. I would also suggest something like agency recruiting. They typically will give anyone a chance and salaries can be very lucrative.
