MBA Student

Recently left 4 years of consulting and will be going back to school for my MBA in supply chain management with a PMP as well. I don’t want to go back in to consulting but would it be beneficial to do an internship focusing on supply chain at a major consulting firm for my industry prospects?

I doubt anyone will guarantee what type of project you will get to work on during that 10 week internship. You are better off looking for a supplychain internship with a company you would like to work for post MBA. That is the real purpose of internships. For both parties to test drive the job. And I would venture to say the supply change work a consultant does looks nothing like what an industry person does. So I don't seeing a company being impressed.

Can confirm — industry and consulting in the supply chain space are very different. Some industries can be exceptions though. CS1 is spot on. The purpose of an internship is to find a job post MBA. Don’t waste time consulting if that’s not what you want to do.

I am almost in exactly your situation, except I’m at year 5 in consulting and no PMP. Considering leaving consulting and going back for MBA in supply chain. The only thing in my way right now is figuring out approximately how much will the pay decrease will be (if any).
