Is text based interviews a thing or is it a scam?
There is so much contradictory advice out there when it comes to interviewing , and writing resumes and cover letters, that I am lost. Be genuine in your resume, but use AI to strip away your humanity. Be natural and charming in interviews, but spend hours rehearsing your answers, and somehow know through research exactly what someone you`ve never met wants. Show the best version of yourself, but you`re suspicious if you don`t talk about your flaws. Seriously: WHAT DO YOU PEOPLE WANT?!!!!!
I had a final-round interview last week where the team lead asked me to describe a time I had a conflict with a manager and how I resolved it. I gave a textbook, diplomatic answer, but what I wanted to say was that my last manager was a micromanager who took credit for my work and then laid me off via Zoom. It’s exhausting having to rewrite your own career history to make every toxic workplace sound like a valuable learning opportunity. Do you think anyone actually buys into the answers we’re forced to repeat in these interviews?
If every recruiter had to hear one honest message from job seekers, what would you say? Mine would be that ATS is hindering getting quality applicants, no matter how much more efficient you might think it is making the early stages of your searching.

When you wait for responses for applications that you applied for, it can be a bit nerve wracking. I am still waiting for applications I put in 2 weeks ago up to yesterday. What do you do to pass time while you wait? Do you try to approve your skills, or just hope that this application will be your golden ticket?
That sounds super sketchy. I don't know how you can get a job without speaking with the person. Do you have communications with them in any other way other than text? Did they send any email from a company domain? Is the number you are communicating with listed as a company number? Is the person you are communicating with visible on LinkedIn? Can you see that they are authorized as being part of the company? Just some of my thoughts regarding this.
I never respond to text messages from anyone claiming to be from a recruiting firm. If you believe it is a legitimate company you should call the company directly and ask if they are hiring.
