As a geology technician you don't log the core as such, but get the core ready to be 'logged' by the geologist. You would get the core from the drillers in the morning and end of shift. get it all organised. mark up the meters and check there is no core loss. wash it. take photo's. add an orientation line to the core. when the geologist is finished logging (marking down any features/ changes to the rock) you will bag it up how the geologist specifies or cut it and then bag it. then get it ready to be taken on the truck to labs or core yard.
