Nanomix is causing a Sensation. The company's nanoelectronic sensors integrate carbon nanotube electronics with silicon structures in the Sensation technology platform, and are touted for both their small size and high sensitivity in both gas and liquid environments. Applications include air quality monitoring, biomolecule detection, breath testing for medical diagnoses, leak detection, and pollutant detection. Nanomix was founded in 1998 by University of California-Berkeley physics professors Marvin Cohen and Alex Zettl. The US Department of Homeland Security awarded Nanomix a $1 million grant. The company has $48 million in private equity funding from Alta Partners and other investors.
