Pros

Good opportunity to return to the estate agency industry and develop knowledge of the local market. Some positive learning experiences and exposure to different aspects of the role

Cons

Training and onboarding could be improved, particularly for those returning to the industry after a period away. Management style was heavily focused on oversight and performance monitoring, with limited coaching or development support. There was also an expectation to be available outside contracted hours, and work-life boundaries were not always clearly defined.

Pros

I joined Belvoir Rugby as a lettings coordinator. I was grateful for the opportunity and gave my all to the role. It was made clear I’d need a driving licence- which I have. However on day one I realised the pool car was manual and I can only drive automatic. I advised them of this on day one just an hour after my arrival. For 2 weeks I used my own car to visit properties and do the job. I was genuinely very good at the job. I did everything that was asked of me and went above and beyond. I learned the systems quickly and I was making and answering calls and booking visits. Nothing was too much trouble I gave my all and I felt confident I could have a long career with Belvoir. So imagine my utmost shock when I arrived for work one day and was sacked out of the blue! I was told “you’re not for me!” Before then trying to follow up with “it’s not personal”. This was just a day after I’d been sent to a dirty property and asked to clean mould off a number of walls using just kitchen roll and spray. No protective equipment not even a pair of gloves! Did I complain? No! I did everything that was asked of me in the 2 weeks I worked there and I absolutely did not deserve to be sacked for no reason! Once I had gone home and gotten over the initial shock I emailed to get to the bottom of what had gone wrong. Are almost a whole day I received a nonsense reply blaming the decision on me being a bad “cultural fit”.Also then went on to blame it on my inability to drive the company car! Little bit of discrimination there! The car attitude makes no sense as I have never come across a lettings or estate agency that expect all staff to share one car! A year on and I still cannot understand what happened but I do not feel it was deserved and on top of this at time of typing I can see my old job being advertised again- had I not have been unfairly fired this would be unnecessary as I’d still be there! I actually did like working for Belvoir and I was grateful and willing to be totally loyal!

Cons

One year on and I’m still out of work as the job marked is awful, thanks to Belvoir obtaining a reference from my previous employer it’s unlikely I’ll get another one from them so thanks for that!
