Pros

CMC is an awesome starting point for entry level positions into low-income housing. They train you extensively and are more than willing to teach you everything there is to know about low-income housing standards, rules, compliance, federal/state/local laws, etc. CMC encourages their employees to get their HUD certifications, pays you while you take the class your hourly wage, as well as pays for the courses and exams you request to take and their annual renewal fees once you have your certifications. If you have a question about something, management is more than willing to answer your question(s) and explain in depth the answers. Very organized company(well oiled machine) and family oriented. The one thing I wish I had at my new job at a different organization is the mentality of CMC with having their employees' backs. CMC will support you and back you up as their employee with tenant disputes, as long as you do the right thing. Opportunities for advancement within the company if you show interest in moving up and gaining more experience. Working for this organization is the closest thing to getting a degree in property management, low-income housing(HUD-Section 8, 236), LIHTC, leasing/organization and processes of mixed housing properties(market-rate, Section 8, Section 236, LIHTC), how to process evictions in the state of CT, compliance of tenant files(auditing), REAC inspections, Fair Housing standards/audits/compliance, learning how to follow requirements and obtain vouchers from housing authorities, how to pass inspections on the state/fed/local level, etc. If you are interested in entering this industry, CMC is the place to be and looks good on your resume.

Cons

Extensive work load per position. Owner requires too many reports, which makes it difficult to get your work done because half your day is spent completing and submitting reports that could easily be generated in the software systems(Yardi). Owner's girlfriend is a disaster and rabid animal.
