Gestalt Community Schools/PowerCenter Sucks - Literacy Specialist Gestalt Community Schools Employee Review

Great gifts, development for teachers was always helpful, and felt like a family.

No cons… I left because I had to move back home with my parents

-Students are great -On-campus admin are incredible

-They are using all of their title 11 or whatever money to create unprecedented levels of bureaucracy. Be prepared to have some random person from upper management come to your class 3+ times a week and check if, for example, your "standards" are updated daily on your bulletin board and write you up if not. -Ridiculous after-school responsibilities; hour-long meetings that could be emails 2x a month, requirement to tutor after-school weekly which turns into a giant babysitting session, frequent PD after-school, ridiculous "culture" events that you're expected to go to for no reason (ex: Gestalt's "State of the Union" where they say who's doing good for 3 hours on a random Tuesday and you have to go). -All of this on top of how awful being a K-12 teacher already is really is enough to send anyone over the edge. I haven't been here a full year and have already seen 4 teachers quit.
