Pros

They do have good benefits

Cons

They started acting more corporative by overhiring in order to show people they could be inclusive. It made the CEO noticeable since he lacks any other talent than appearing to be talented. They couldn’t keep up with this weak foundation and took advantage of the pandemic to fire most of those employees. In 2019, The CEO wrote about hiring someone from the public to be part of the board. He was trying to show he is against nepotism. The company uses a paternalistic disguise to hide their dictatorial culture. If you want to keep your position, learn how to agree with any grandiosity and incongruences. Mr. Dash is overly involved in social media spitting out political and tech dissertations, or talking about poverty. He is a truly ambitious man who preaches modesty and he is brilliant at doing this. To quiet rumors that the company is not doing well, they recently posted the salary for a new position. Finally they will pay (150-170 k) for all the duties that some employees were doing for less. That salary is good but your time is irrecoverable once you lose it. Their environment is deceivingly enthusiastic and misleadingly accepting. This company went from trying to be inclusive to a very homogenous atmosphere: Easy to manipulate, lack of life experience and of managerial skills- employees. Now that they stopped trying to appear to be inclusive and fair (which they are not) perhaps they can create something meaningful.

Pros

Never written a review, but felt compelled to action after reading a former colleague’s post here. People are upset about FogBugz being sold off. Let me please defend a bit. Glitch, formerly Fog Creek Software, is an awesome company to work for. Competetive salary, amazing benefits, stock options, and total autonomy to do great work. I almost feel guilty, but very rarely did I or my team need to work a 40 hour week. I think that’s a pro? The company also hires and promotes people to engineering positions with little to no coding experience. It’s quite hard to land a job here, but easy to keep unless they sell off the product you’re working on!

Cons

It was sad and emotional when Joel Spolsky, Anil Dash and Jordan Harris decided to sell FogBugz, the product that funded Fog Creek, Stack Overflow, Trello and Glitch. I understand it’s business, however, stings nonetheless because naively we all thought Fog Creek placed people before profits. The staff that worked on the product was forced to leave after the sale of FogBugz to ESW with no choice in the matter. I didn’t believe I was working for FogBugz, I thought I was working for Fog Creek.
