Pros

The annual contract is from October to May, so if you have school age children this aligns well with your family needs. The hourly wage is very rewarding, and health, dental and vision benefits are available. Retirement benefits (401k) are available. The company culture is very collegial and free from curricula constraints due to school board contracts; teachers work together to continuously review curriculum and make improvements.

Cons

This is a great company! The only downside is that you may outgrow the need to work only 8 months out of the year as your children mature. This is an ideal opportunity for a teacher desiring to work part time.

Pros

Spring Academy's supervisors are kind, supportive, and easy to work with. They compensate their employees to meetings, phone calls, and drive time. They specifically handle the bulk of school and parent communication, leaving teachers stress-free and able to focus on the students. There is flexibility for teachers to create curriculum around each child's specific goals.

Cons

One to one instructors will always be a part time position, which might not be the best financial situation for some teachers. Schedules often fill up, but sometimes a teacher's schedule is at the mercy of the district/school assessments being completed and approved. So there might be some time with an uneven work day/week while waiting.

Pros

I have been working at Spring Academy for about a year. Throughout that time, I could not be happier with the supportive staff, flexible hours, meaningful work with students, and opportunities to grow and learn more about individualized, one-to-one instruction. Rob has created a welcoming work environment that begins as you walk through the door on the very first day of work. As a teacher who is also a full-time graduate student, the staff at Spring Academy is always flexible and accommodating with my complex class schedule. I never have to worry about missing a day of class or a session with any of my students due to SA’s diligent work in making sure everyone's needs are met. The professional development offered at Spring Academy is applicable, collaborative, and meaningful to the work we do everyday with students. All of the teachers who work at Spring Academy are passionate, empathetic educators who always keep students and families at the forefront of their work. Spring Academy offers a unique opportunity to work with students in an individualized setting to provide explicit, individualized instruction. As educators, we have the opportunity to tailor lessons to students’ unique learning styles and interests. I believe that a teacher’s role should be to support students in understanding, celebrating and utilizing their strengths. At Spring Academy, I truly believe that each teacher has the opportunity to accomplish this.

Cons

I cannot think of any particular cons. The staff is supportive, hours are flexible, and the work is challenging and meaningful.
