The Welcome People

Is this your company?

Yes, but no. - Welcome Ambassador The Welcome People Employee Review

Pros

The rate pay is good.

Cons

You have to stand on your feet and walk 20km a day 5 days a week. If you are given a difficult neighbourhood, you have to share space from time to time with local beggars and drug addicts (can be agressive and unruly) who use your area as a toilet (which has to be reported). Training will be informal, your colleague will teach you as you go. They're stingy on the quality of uniforms and you will struggle finding the right size. They will improvise if something is needed, which will bring to light the lack of homogeneity. Good luck in winter, you better help yourself to a solution.

Pros

-Pay was reasonable. -Uniform & shoes provided. -Paid breaks. -Every day was different.

Cons

-You end up doing a LOT more than the job description or training suggests you will. -No chance of career progression. -While the client tended to be okay, management were incredibly difficult to deal with and utterly out of touch, obsessed with image above all else. -Absolutely awful work-life balance, management are utterly unsympathetic to staff about any problems they have in their personal lives. -Colleague with a medical condition berated for taking too long in the bathroom, and said that they had been continually taking too long, suggesting they were timing us on bathroom breaks? -Long hours working on your feet, no matter what the weather is. -Working outside in extreme temperatures in uniform totally inappropriate for the weather, but hey at least we looked smart while overheating and freezing, right? -What head office want and what the client wants can be very different things, and you'll be the one suffering the consequences. -Was told I wasn't interacting enough with businesses, then told I was interacting too much with them simultaneously, so there's no winning. -Work phone was old and not reliable, and the app you're supposed to use would glitch at random. -If your internet connection on your phone drops prepare to be accused of turning off the phone and not working. -When management would come to visit, it was only to berate us over problems that were usually completely out of our control.
