Pros

HDG stands out as a firm that truly offers a collaborative, multidiscipline approach to architecture and engineering. Most firms *say* they are collaborative, but HDG integrates each discipline into the design process. At typical firms where architecture comes first, then engineering follows, everyone is forced to redraws their work multiple times. Conversely, HDG encourages all disciplines to work together, in a unified way, to promote efficiency and expediency, which translates into higher salaries, better bonuses, and great benefits to the employees. Having worked at many firms, I can attest that HDG's approach is advanced, cutting edge, and very sensible.

Cons

HDG's collaborative approach is not for everyone. People with inflated egos either quit quickly or decide to learn to grow at HDG into more mature, well-rounded professionals. There is an acclimation period at HDG because most employees' previous firms and not as interdisciplinary as HDG.

Pros

Glassdoor did not allow to choose the option of the years I worked there, which was from 2011 to 2103. The work hours Monday thru Thursday allowed for half days (8 to 12) on Friday. Owner is dedicated to the quality of work, adhering to schedules, and has a good reputation with the clients. The salary and benefits matched or surpassed similar sized firms in the industry. If you want to learn and grow, then the right attitude is essential as there is room for growth, for those that strive to become better at their profession. Attempts to promote team work by mixing up the people who work on the various projects, so not one person is always working with the same group of people on every project.

Cons

Sometimes the QA meetings were long but that was due to Project managers not checking work of the team prior to the meeting. Should have kept my position there instead of leaving due to personal circumstances.

Pros

The firm's owner makes sure I have the support needed to do assigned tasks and provides support if problems occur. I cannot speak for others who have come and gone with the firm, but I have no reason to leave it. Work is stable and continuous. The firm's owner is appreciative for your efforts and available to talk to.

Cons

Project timelines can be very tight, but I have seen this getting better. The firm's owner expects company guidelines to be followed. Too many times I have seen employees not follow those guidelines and project deadlines and quality fall behind.
