Pros

The biggest pro for me was the ability to make commission in addition to my hourly rate. Even though there are a few weeks here and there where I don't qualify for commission, my overall early salary is more than fair. My previous employer paid me about 60% of the early salary I receive now. I know the management, especially one leader in particular, can be rude and discouraging. However, I have found that if I legitimately ask for help at a convenient time, he is more than happy to help me with the problem and suggest some methods that will allow me to do it on my own correctly next time. I have found that once you spend some time with him either one-on-one or within a small group, he is much more personable and is also much kinder and considerate. I have found that he is especially kind to those who openly consider him to be their mentor. The advice he gave me about my future career and everything else he assisted me with, helped me find an even better paying position, where my salary is about 135% of the salary I earned at Nexadental.

Cons

My biggest pro was the drama and gossip. I felt that most of it was pointless and only meant to make others feel bad. I noticed this tended to happen especially among females (not all females, just so I'm clear). I have found that small groups of employees are especially rude and inconsiderate to others not in their "group", especially when the employee was new. During the first few months, this group made it hard for me to work. They would talk about me negatively to the point where the knew I could overhear, but since I was new I didn't want to make any waves. I also wish that I always received commission. Even if I went under my sales goal, it would be very helpful and motivating to receive a smaller than normal percentage of the sales who fail to reach their sales goals.

Pros

Your success is based on your personal motivation. Those who have a lazy work ethic complain about the number of calls they have to make while the good reps build their client list on a day to day basis. I've been working here as an ortho rep for over a year and your work ethic has a lot to do with your performance. That goes hand in hand with a sales position anywhere.

Cons

Takes a few months to build an active client list with repeat customers. A lot of calls in the beginning to set up your territory.

Pros

Set hours so you don't have to worry about taking work home with you. You get a small base + commissions, and it's a good beginner place to start if you're looking to get work experience in medical sales.

Cons

It is not really a sales job. It resembles more like a telemarketing gig. The climate and culture of the office is not the most welcoming, and you're heavily micro-managed. Some people thrive under that, I guess.
