Pros
Dealing with the history of television (and radio) is enjoyable for anyone with an appreciation for the arts. Being part of an environment that celebrates the current television culture (exemplified by the organization's multitude of seminars), as well as classic shows (via a staggering collection of vintage programs) has been fun. If you have a good boss (which I do) and are surrounded by like-minded colleagues (which I am), the days pretty much fly by. As the hours are standard nine to five, there are no complaints there. Being located near Rockefeller Center is also a plus, as the area is easily accessed by all major subway lines. All in all, I acknowledge and appreciate the job's benefits.
Cons
The Paley is a non-profit organization, so you know from the start that salaries will be typical for a non-profit. For those living in NYC, making ends meet while working here is sometimes a challenge.
