Pros

Commission can be good. High basic in comparison to some furniture sales.

Cons

Too many to list but brief is No work life balance. Two 10-8 shifts a week. Senior staff change rotas with no notice to suit them. Some midnight finishes!. No overtime paid. Bullying and harrassment, no praise for a 20k week over 6k taget and top of region but threatened with sack for one week of missing 7k target by 2k. Every sale is scrutinise. Work for store target to earn your manager money. No share of it what so ever. KPIS and shouted about constantly. Again no praise when achieved but will shout and scream when not. Many members of staff were made to cry on a weekly basis during their WEEKLY reviews. HR Do not care anout any bullying either. So dont even bother. DO NOT WORK FOR THIS COMPANY. There are so many othwr furniture retails who are great to work for. I know happily i work for them now!

Pros

I suppose the roof at head office keeps the rain off your head?

Cons

It's hard to thin down this list enough to get it all in the character limit here, but I'll see if I can give you a taste... The all-pervading culture of blame and self-interest makes for a truly poisonous atmosphere. Imagine a stereotypical old-school salesman and everything that is awful about them. Now imagine a company run entirely by people like that. I have never seen so many unnecessary BMW and Audi company cars in one place. A perfect case-study for the Dunning-Kruger effect, with whole teams of people employed to do jobs that are then over-ruled and shut down by the autocrats in upper management, who truly believe they know better than the specialists they've employed. The relentless pursuit of sales at the cost of everything else, combined with a total disregard for the customer at every level is quite astonishing. Dishonesty is the default setting. Quality, service and customer satisfaction are so far down the list as to be non-existent. The fact that they are deliberately targeting the lower end of the market with low-quality tat and unnecessary bolt-on insurance products sold on ridiculous commission is just another reason to leave with a foul taste in your mouth. The pricing structure is as much a work of art as it is pure evil, designed entirely to skirt the edges of the FCA guidelines as closely as possible without getting caught. That being said, the simplest of audits would expose some entirely unsavoury practices in this place... The treatment of suppliers and third-party agencies is no better than that of the customers. Staff are treated with total disdain also, all while stuck in ridiculous dress-codes at head office in poor working environments. The real, true shame is that the actual staff are by and large great people that know what they are doing - if only they were allowed to get on and do it. Ultimately though, the top knobs have made themselves very rich by carrying on like this, so they have no compulsion to change anything at all. Stack 'em high, sell 'em cheap and treat everyone like idiots. I'm embarrassed to have this place on my CV.
