      Good opportunities for growth, but some roles can be challenging depending on fit

      Pros

      - Opportunities to take on new responsibilities if you’re willing to step up. Over the years I’ve been given chances to move from development into DevOps leadership and later into an Engineering Lead position. - Supportive line management, especially when it comes to discussing development needs, training, or considering alternative career paths when a role isn’t the right fit. - Access to structured learning, such as the Level 7 Leadership Apprenticeship, which has been valuable. - Interesting technical challenges across cloud, DevOps, and software engineering, there’s rarely a dull moment if you like varied work.

      Cons

      - Some roles can be extremely demanding and not always well-aligned to individual strengths. My recent experience as an Engineering Lead has been particularly challenging, but it has highlighted internal support and coaching. - High expectations and change can be difficult to manage, especially during reorganisations or strategic shifts. Those who prefer stability may struggle. - Workload can escalate depending on team pressures, organisational needs, and shifting priorities.

      Cons

      Can be stressful or challenging at times — projects are fast-moving and high-responsibility. Occasionally things can get annoying — as in any workplace, processes or priorities may shift quickly. Not a perfect company — like any business, there are times when you have to align with company priorities and make compromises. High expectations — you need to take ownership and deliver; it’s not a place for a passive approach. Fast growth can be demanding — moving from engineer to lead/architect in a short time means a steep learning curve.
