Pros

Relevance AI is definitely a real startup experience - lots of ownership, lots of learning, and definitely no chance of being bored. You get exposed to way more than your actual job scope, which is great if you like figuring things out and wearing multiple hats. The team is smart, driven, and people genuinely care about what they’re building. If you enjoy solving problems and moving fast, you’ll probably like it here.

Cons

The environment can feel chaotic at times, which is very normal for a startup but may be challenging if you’re used to larger companies with more structure and clearly defined processes. Priorities can shift quickly, roles evolve as the company grows, and not everything is fully figured out yet. You need to be comfortable with ambiguity to really thrive here.

Best startup for AI development

Pros

Relevance takes AI seriously in its DNA. It's not like the other Sydney startups trying to pretend they are AI-native. The founders have been working on AI for years, before it became cool. They really understand it, know its potential, and have been early to every cycle. People across all functions are passionate and interested in AI too - folks in the sales org know about advanced tool calling patterns, and our support team is using Claude Code. We're working on a really interesting product that is on the frontier and it's the best opportunity to do frontier work in AUS. Definitely recommend joining!

Cons

It's a bit scrappy, eg many meeting rooms don't have an AV setup

Pros

I’ve been at Relevance AI for just over three years now as a Senior Software Engineer, and it’s been one of the most intense and rewarding growth experiences of my career. What stands out most is the pace of learning and the level of ownership you get. I’ve reported into a few different leaders over that time, which has given me exposure to a range of management styles and technical approaches. That’s come with its challenges, but it’s also forced me to become far more adaptable and opinionated as an engineer. From a technical perspective, the work is genuinely interesting. We’re not just building CRUD apps or incremental features. We’re solving complex problems around agent orchestration, scaling distributed systems, and building infrastructure that supports real-world AI workflows for enterprise customers. The people are also a big reason I’ve stayed. There’s a high talent bar, and I’ve worked with some genuinely impressive engineers who care deeply about what they’re building. Even during tougher periods, there’s a strong sense that everyone is trying to push the company forward.

Cons

It’s definitely not a “polished big company” environment. There are real growth challenges. Strategy can evolve quickly, priorities can shift, and at times it can feel like we’re building the plane while flying it. But if you’re someone who thrives in that kind of environment, it’s a huge opportunity to have outsized impact.
